Was in Chicago over the weekend and made a pilgrimage to Chicago Music Exchange. I say pilgrimage, because the place is a freaking temple of guitars. Incredible selection from vintage beauties to new classics. I spent almost two hours there, played Les Pauls, Strats, Rickenbackers, PRSs, Gretches and more. Incredibly knowledgeable staff. Beautiful, more museum than store, really. If you are in Chicago and you are the slightest bit interested in guitars and music, get yourself there.

I don’t believe I’ve seen so many Rickenbacker’s or Gibson’s in one place ever, not even the Guitar Center Rock Walk in Hollywood. Nice Article Greg
Thanks, I’ve been to Guitar Center Rock Walk too. Great stuff but very different store. Chicago Music Exchange focuses on classic brands and has a lot of really fascinating vintage guitars and amps. Huge selection of models within a narrower band. Not that there is anything wrong with Shecters, ESPs, Charvels, etc., but they just don’t carry them. But if you’re looking for a Clapton model Strat or used Les Paul, this is the place to go. Atmosphere and expertise are first class.
